CHIPPING TECHNIQUE IN GOLF - The 3 Chip Shots You Need
The best chipping technique in golf’s short game is the one the suits the lie and position you have when chipping around the green. Golf chipping techniques vary as do the different short game shots required.Aussie Golf Pros shows you how to chip a golf ball from a variety of situations.
In this Golf Short Game Lesson, Glen Haynes demonstrates the 3 major techniques used by the top professionals, like Scottie Scheffler Tiger Woods, Cam Smith Golf and Phil Mickelson chipping. He explains which of these 3 short game techniques to use in certain conditions and why you shouldn’t rely on a single method for all shots around the green.
If you use a single technique with your best chipping wedge for all shots, then that method will suit some shots but not all. Develop a versatile short game to be better prepared the huge variety of short game shots you face on the golf course.

ABOUT AUSSIE GOLF PROS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve Gannon and Glen Haynes created Aussie Golf Pros to provide a learning platform for golfers of all levels. They post content regularly on social media accounts. Their website, www.aussiegolfpros.com, includes blogposts, golf coaching series and links to great programs. New content, videos and downloads are added regularly.
Golf Coaches, Not Teachers
The Aussie Golf Pros are holistic coaches in every sense of the word. Steve and Glen are both fully qualified members of the PGA of Australia and are avid students of the Sports Sciences. Together, they are certified in Advanced Golf Coaching, Golf Psychology, TPI (Body-Swing Connection), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Personal Development and Skill Acquisition.
Steve and Glen are not ‘Method’ coaches. They recognise that there are literally 1000’s of ways to swing a golf club! Rather than try to ‘change’ your swing, their goal is to help You Be The Best Golfer You Can Be!
Skill Development vs Technical Changes
Although technique is an important factor in improving a golfer’s performance, Skill Development is largely neglected in golf coaching today. Skill is something that can be tangibly improved with proper understanding of the golf impact laws and effective practice towards improved performance.
External Focus of Attention
Most golf teaching involves an internal focus. Common suggestions might include increased hip turn, a still head or improved hand path. These are all factors of the golf swing, which many golfers and teachers consider important. However, as they are focused internally, on movements of the body, golfers find changes extremely difficult to process.
    I really like this idea of marking the ball to see where you’ve hit it on the club face. You’ve used it in other useful videos. Another tip to rush to the practice ground to try out. Many thanks, Glen. Has anybody told you that you’re very like Simon Day, an actor in The Fast Show? (A popular comedy show in the UK).
    Thanks, Glen. Another terrific and simple guide. I use the toe-down chip a lot, and now I “get” the dead hands technique I’ll vary things a bit. I play in Scotland, where the grass is always wet or soggy. Your techniques are very simple and effective. Many thanks.
    preferred club for a the toe chip?
    • @AussieGolfPros
      @AussieGolfPros 6 днів тому
      Thank you for your question @tuna411. That’s entirely dependent upon your required trajectory and amount of roll out required. You can even use a hybrid or fairway wood for this shot, although you wouldn’t touch the turf at all when playing those clubs. Glen
      Thank you for your comment @medicopedia9052. The 1st chip is played with much higher hands (toe down) with an arm and shoulders motion. The 3rd chip setup is different, with lower hands for a higher trajectory. It’s a much more body controlled motion with increased rotation. Cheers Glen
    excellent options Glen. I am interested in more clarity or explanation on the grip / pressure at impact for these and also the firmness or oily wrists through impact; particularly when the poor lie or rough will affect the club passing through the grass to the ball - turning it over - we have patchy couch rough with tufts and bare between and sandy ground below affecting club through the ball - I was taught another method with shaft leaning forward at impact with firm wrist and virtually no follow through so a low chip / punch
    Well Done Glen on the three chipping techniques that you previewed in this video. Although I am familiar with all three of them and have used one or the other over the years, I was still able to pick up some valuable information.     • @AussieGolfPros
      @AussieGolfPros 22 дні тому
      Thank you for your comments @decodyg484. We don’t advocate this ‘stacking’ on the lead side. For most golfers, the head gets ahead of the golf ball. They generally lose lag and therefore drop clubhead speed. Most good ball strikers transfer pressure through their feet, firstly to the back foot, then to the front foot. Cheers Glen
    I haven't tried this, no. However, a scratch marker who borrowed a few of my practice balls did do this! Believe me, I'm gonna do it now. Thanks Glen 🎉
    Im a right handed golfer, have been playing for nearly 2 years with my dominant arm being my lead arm, I've recently switched to feeling like my trail arm is more dominant and its totally changed my game, my putting has got better at the same time, but I've gone from mid 90s to low 80s in a couple of months.
      Thank you for your comments @deadgum11. It sounds like your lead arm has been doing its job but your trail hasn’t been. Golf is a 2-sided game. Great to hear that you’ve found something to help you play better golf!
      @@AussieGolfPros yeah I'd agree with that, until recently my trail arm has just been along for the ride with whatever my lead arm was doing, switching the feeling has definitely helped.
    Excellent job Glen on instructing us on how to find the sweet spot on the irons. I am always checking the face of my irons and woods to see where the ball is contacting the face of the club. Then, I will make my adjustments to where they should be hitting. I feel that if one stays in posture, there shouldn't be too much variance in where the strikes are happening. Well Done Glen!
      Thank you John. Maintain posture definitely helps with strike consistency.
